Setting the standard for Event SAFETY
life safety first. always.
WHO WE ARE
Event Safety Alliance® (ESA) is a non-profit membership-driven organization dedicated to promoting “life safety first” throughout all phases of event production and execution. ESA’s mission is to help event professionals and our guests be Empowered, Safe, and Aware of the reasonably foreseeable risks around them.
ESA works to achieve our mission through Education, Skills training, and Advocacy.
Our goal is to put Life Safety at the cultural heart of our industry. We believe that to achieve this, Life Safety is built on three pillars:
What is necessary to stay safe.
How we can inspire others to be safe.
Why everyone is responsible for Life Safety.
OUR STORY
ESA was formed in direct response to a series of tragic and deadly incidents during the Summer of 2011 at live events in Ottawa, Tulsa, Indiana, and Belgium. A diverse coalition of entertainment industry professionals united in the belief that maintaining the status quo was neither desirable nor possible. Instead, placing a higher priority on safety and safety education would save lives, money, reputations, and the industry that we hold so dearly.
Starting with the publication of The Event Safety Guide (2013), ESA’s mission quickly expanded to include an annual conference, several recurring in-person training programs, and two online, on-demand courses.
The work of the ESA now reaches more than 40,000 professionals who create, operate, and drive entertainment, sports, trade shows, and corporate events and activations in brick-and-mortar venues, on greenfield event sites, and on tours around the world. Our members own and operate companies, provide labor, create, and deliver every aspect of event production, from promotion and planning to technical resource vendors, engineering, insurance, and meteorological support.
Recognition of Global Need
Just as the laws of gravity remain consistent everywhere, the risks faced by event professionals are universal. ESA believes one’s country, region, and available resources should not be a barrier to putting on a safe event. We are focused on improving awareness and compliance with basic safety and security principals by ensuring our guidance and training is accessible, understandable, and applicable regardless of locale.
